Alain Mikli

Since 1978 the Alain Mikli brand has been synonymous with distinctiveness and provocation, thanks to its unique design and exclusive color combinations. A union between a piece of art and a consumer product, the eyewear is practical but edgy.

The intention behind our designs has always been to selectively target an audience of tastemakers and creative people around the world. Collaborations with fashion designers such as Claude Montana, Jean Paul Gaultier, Issey Miyake, Jil Sander, Donna Karan and artists like Wim Wenders, Grace Jones, Kanye West, and Elton John defined the eyewear aesthetic throughout the 80s and 90s.

All new projects are intended to reinforce the connection between the brand and today’s creative audience by aligning with iconic brands, artists, photographers and fashion influencers who share a common vision.

Acetates

Exclusive and colorful acetates are quintessential Alain Mikli. We have pioneered the use of combining colors and patterns in eyewear to achieve unusual and dramatic results. All the unique acetates have been studied and developed for more than 35 years with revered Italian manufacturer Mazzucchelli. Iconic colors such as the ‘noir nacré’, the ‘rouge Mikli’ or the ‘damier’ pattern have become pillars of the brand DNA, as well as a benchmark for the entire industry. Every year Alain Mikli develops several new colors and patterns that are inspired by our strong relationship and cultural exchange with the art and fashion worlds.

Craftsmanship

For Alain Mikli, every new style is a work of art. It takes about a year to conceptualize, prototype, revise and perfect to finally produce a single frame. It is a long journey necessary to guarantee the individuality and quality of each model.

Our optical frames and sunglasses are handcrafted in a dedicated factory in Italy where the latest technologies are combined with deep artisanal expertise.

From the initial cut into the acetate, to the tumbling and finishing phases, each frame is obsessively tended to during the entire process. The superior materials are assured by several decades of partnership with the best suppliers, whether it is acetate, lenses or metal coating - no detail is left to chance.

The final result is a perfect combination of craftsmanship, attention to detail, refined taste and sophisticated beauty.
